Lake District - 9th to 10th of November

The morning after Paul's Birthday we drove up to Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District where we checked in to another very nice B&B - Storrs Gate House complete with four poster bed. After settling in we walked along Lake Winderemere into town for a quick look around and a bite to eat at the local pub before heading back to the B&B and Strictly Come Dancing/Bed.

The following day we drove to Ullswater and completed a beautiful hike recommended to us by the B&B owner. Carolyn got more and more into the whole hiking thing as the day progressed and even agreed to a pretty tough climb towards the end of the walk. Not even some of the worst weather of the year managed to put a dampener on such a brilliant day. After grabbing lunch in Ambleside we headed off for a drive along the Kirkstone Pass. The drive was incredibly beautiful and something we will never forget. On the way home we popped into the Golden Rule for a nice pint of real ale. Who needs holidays abroad when you have destinations like the Lake District in the UK?
